The Team

Stephanie Andre, MA, LPCC

Founder & Director

Stephanie has long dreamed of building a space where genuine caring comes together with a high level of professionalism and a dedication to community. With nearly a decade of work as a mental health professional and years before that in legal administration, she has navigated many large-scale systems that failed to truly provide for their clients. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, she became intimately aware of the struggles facing her community that counseling alone could not fix.

The Healing Collective is the manifestation of her dream to provide one space that offers support to the community, which is sustained by the community. You’ll see her influence in the therapeutic resources we offer, as well as efforts for sustainable consumption and service to our most vulnerable neighbors. Stephanie is an animal-lover, a gardening enthusiast, and a proud wife to her husband Jesse and mother to her two young sons.

Amy Gurley

Founder & Director

After 30 years serving and supporting families in education, Amy is bringing her talents for teaching and communication to the broader community. As a special educator, she knows how to creatively approach challenges, and the supports that are most needed by our friends and neighbors who have been isolated or left behind. When you meet her, you won’t be surprised to know that before teaching, she worked in fashion retail.

Amy’s warmth and creativity make her instantly recognizable as a beloved teacher, and as a mentor to many looking for someone to lean on. She brings her experience in education to the Collective, where you will see her coordinating workshops, managing our maker’s space and eco-boutique, and focused on bringing plant-based food and healing to our visitors. She and her husband Steve call the North Valley home.

Steve Gurley

Director

Steve has lived a life of service and creation. He brings 10 years of construction experience in project management, planning and implementation. Projects across New Mexico and in Texas bear the marks of his professionalism, including Registered Historical Buildings, K-12 schools, universities, hospitals, and restaurants.

Before entering this field, he served his community for 20 years as a firefighter/paramedic, and the nation as a United States Navy Corpsman. His involvement in local, regional, state, and federal service has given him a unique perspective of the needs and challenges of communities at different levels, as well as the projects and services that address those needs directly.

Additionally, Steve is an excellent mentor with teaching experience at North Central Texas College as an Adjunct Professor and EMT/Paramedic Instructor. He believes in passing strong skills and character to the next generation, and is looking forward to leading our team efforts toward sustainable restoration of the Samuel Shalit House through partnerships with local trade schools.

Our Mission

Our Vision

Our Values

Albuquerque Healing Collective is a New Mexico non-profit organization seeking to address gaps in community services in Albuquerque while caring for its historic spaces. We create opportunities for community members to access and enjoy nutritious food, mental and behavioral health resources, and artistic and cultural expression. We invite the public to share their knowledge in educational workshops, and host community gatherings that build connectedness between the rich and diverse cultures that call New Mexico home. We aim to promote the physical, emotional, and social wellness of Albuquerque residents, regardless of background or identity.

We envision an Albuquerque where everyone has a place to belong, opportunities to grow, and access to the resources they need to thrive. We imagine a vibrant community where people nourish their bodies, minds, and spirits through food, health, creativity, culture, learning, and connection—and where historic spaces continue to bring people together for generations to come.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate, learn, create, connect, and contribute. We welcome people of all backgrounds and identities and approach our work with inclusivity, sustainability, respect, and care for our community. Albuquerque Healing Collective actively practices anti-racism and accepts feedback on how we can improve, knowing that mistakes are inevitable and repair is our responsibility.

Are you a healer? A creative? A chef? A green thumb?
